As the successful candidate you will be a Chartered Building Surveyor who is a currently in a junior management position with ambition to move on in your career.

Ideally you will become a key part of their management restructure to take the company forward, consolidate successes and expand their client base and turnover over the next few years.

Definition of Duties:

You should be a Chartered Building Surveyor or equivalent.

Display the level of technical skill and exercise reasonable care in the performance of their work in relation to the technical competence expected of an experienced Chartered Building Surveyor with over 15 years experience.

You will be experienced in neighbourly matters and preferably also in dilapidations and other leasehold matters, particularly in respect of tenant’s alterations. They will be expected to manage these in conjunction with the Directors to develop and expand this type of work. The individual will also be expected to engage with the RICS, Pyramus & Thisbe Club etc to enhance the profile of the firm in these sectors.

Understand the need for profitability and manage workload to meet targets of time taken v fee earned.

To plan and organise own and other surveyors’ (and secretaries’) workload. Manage same and carry out whatever technical work required to be undertaken.

To exercise management and development of policies, systems, processes and personnel involved.

Have the ability to manage clients and undertake to obtain work from them and subsequently manage their workload to their reasonable satisfaction and in a profitable fashion.

Have good communication and management skills.

To undertake, set up and maintain specific technical systems and/or procedures, reporting etc when requested to do so.

Not to carry out, or allow to be carried out, an act in the normal day to day activities which might cause a client to take action against the company in relation to a claim for professional negligence.

Keep other members of the management team informed of all staff, client and other matters likely to affect the running of the business.

To carry out any other reasonable duties when called upon to do so in the proper running of the company.

To be aware of the company’s health & safety statement, equal opportunities statement and other like material and be able to make reference and refer staff to these statements. Make the directors aware if there are any non-compliance issues.

Execute the responsibilities of an associate director according to lawful and ethical standards.

To carry out general duties as follows:

i. To promote the success of the company
ii. To exercise reasonable care, skill and diligence
iii. To avoid conflicts of interest
iv. To not accept benefits from third parties
v. To declare interest in proposed transactions or arrangements

To carry out continuing professional development as required by the company and The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
