I have an exciting opportunity for an experience IOS/Andoid developer to join a growing start-up techy company based in Brighton.

The manager is building a team if developers so this is an excellent opportunity to join a team and develop with the company. There is also a possibility of working from home should that be a requirement.

Responsibilities

• Help your team grow by proposing and detail business cases for exciting new products.
• Support your team in meeting sprint commitments by working proactively to deliver high quality well tested software that meets agreed requirements.
• Deliver and maintain new and existing iOS/Android Apps.
• Ensure that impediments of any kind are escalated and long term solutions pursued.
• Promote best software development practices.
• Collaborate with other developers, testers, and other teams using JIRA and distributed version control systems (GIT).
• Support and promote agile practices/SCRUM.
• Develop, test, release and document applications using BDD/TDD and best practices.
• Provide technical advice to an array of departments on new concepts and to ensure their feasibility through development stages.
• Develop tools and methodologies to improve the effectiveness of the development process.
• Collaborate effectively with other technical teams to exploit new technologies to enhance the applications and customer interaction.

Key skills

• At least 2 years commercial experience developing non trivial iOS and Android apps that have been released on the Apple App Store and Google Play respectively.
• Strong proficiency in Objective-C and Java.
• Solid understanding of Cocoa Touch/UIKit best practices, memory management Auto Layout and constraints animation, Core Data/SQLite, and view hierarchy management [iOS] as well as Fragments, Loaders, Android's Activity life cycle, and the backward-compatible support libraries [Android].
• Good knowledge of JavaScript.
• Good knowledge of web technologies and paradigms (JSON, Ajax, XML, REST).
• Experience writing tests and automating these.
• Experience with Test and Behavior Driven Development.
• Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience in all phases of the software development life cycle

Desirable Skills 

1. [Strongly Desirable]: good knowledge of Node.JS.
2. [Strongly Desirable]: knowledge of Xamarin and Xamarin Form.
3. Working knowledge of Swift and functional programming core concepts.
4. Understanding of concurrent programming and modern profiling tools.
5. Willingness to challenge oneself with other technologies and platforms (ie: C#, Windows Universal Apps).
6. Experience with high volume, high availability distributed systems is a plus
