Full-time, permanent position based in London

An exciting new opportunity has opened up at Jack Trench Ltd for an experienced draughtsman with advanced working knowledge of SolidWorks. Reporting directly to the Head of Design and Production, the successful candidate will have a proven background in a bespoke furniture and joinery environment, preferably with a focus on producing high-end bespoke kitchens.

Working on a project-by-project basis, the Kitchen & Furniture Draughtsman will be responsible for interpreting client requirements, architects’ schemes, concepts and other plans to produce detailed technical drawings, high quality 3D renders and manufacturing cut-lists. The ideal candidate will be a talented CAD designer with significant SolidWorks experience and will be able to demonstrate a successful track record in joinery design for manufacture and assembly as well as a strong understanding of the joinery industry itself. Alongside excellent project management skills, he or she will also possess sound knowledge of manufacturing principles and cabinet-making techniques for a broad range of materials, whilst experience of Corian fabrication and machining would also be advantageous.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic studio team, cabinet-makers, bench joiners and on-site installers. He or she will be highly motivated to contribute to the continued growth and success of the company.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Refine and resolve issues within the design concept to remove ambiguity and produce detailed working technical drawings and high quality 3D renders in accordance with company’s house style for client presentation, manufacture and site installation
- Produce accurate and detailed cutting lists from shop drawings
- Maintain clear lines of communication with the workshop, assisting with any queries to support the smooth running of the production process
- Project management and overseeing the the day-to-day requisitioning of materials for in-house manufacture, liaising with key suppliers and managing sub-contractor relationships
- Occasionally assisting with on-site surveys and attending client meetings at our Islington Showroom

Skills and Experience

- An expert user of the CAD software package SolidWorks, version 2015 a minimum requirement – please do not apply if you do not have this experience
- An extensive and sound understanding of the best joinery practices is highly desirable
- Demonstrable experience in the joinery and furniture manufacturing industry a must, preferably with a background in bespoke kitchens
- Some hands-on making experience (joinery and cabinet-making) preferable but not essential.

- Capable of working in a dynamic and sometimes pressurized office environment
- Highly organized with an exceptional eye for detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a positive outlook and can-do attitude
