Background:

The customer is looking fro an individual who will be able to join a dynamic team of technical engineers to provide day to day operational and project support for Corporate and Business systems in a mission critical and secure environment. The team supports in excess of 40 applications ranging in size and complexity which include a mix of COTS and Bespoke developed solutions.

Role Description:

The Application Support Engineer role is a hands-on role which includes Application Support practices (2nd and 3rd line support), Development/ Engineering Services and Technical Project Support.

The role requires an individual who will be able to build and maintain strong relationships with end-users and business functions. Your key interactions will be with End-User Customers, Service Desk and Technical Support/ Engineering teams, Architects, Project Managers, Business Relationship and Service Delivery Managers.

Application Support

You will provide Application Support on a range of systems which typically involves Service Request fulfilment, Incident/ Problem/ Configuration/ Change Management, Application Monitoring and Tuning, System Administration and Application Upgrades/ Patching.

You will deliver Application Support services in line with agreed Service Level and Operational Level Agreements and ensure information and documentation is kept up-to-date e.g. Service, Task and Re Management Tools, Knowledge Bases, Support Documentation, Walkthrough Guides and Solution Design Documentation.

Technical Project Support

You will provide technical support on projects at various stages in the systems development lifecycle ranging from assisting in the design of the solution though to implementation. You will provide ad-hoc support to projects as a technical or application SME.

Development/ Engineering

You will be responsible for supporting the Middleware SME in the administration, maintenance, build and configuration of the Oracle Fusion Middleware Product set i.e. WebLogic and SOA suite 11g.

You will provide Development services and support to new and existing applications. Development services will typically include development in VBA (MS Access, Excel and Word) and debugging/ troubleshooting COTS/ Bespoke applications developed in .NET or Java.

You will provide Implementation Engineering services either directly and/ or by supporting 3rd parties in installing and configuring applications. Engineering services include Build Assurance activities, Operational Acceptance Testing, Monitoring and Tuning, Architecture/ Solution Design, Troubleshooting/ Resolving implementation issues and producing and maintaining any associated documentation.

You will provide 24/7 on-call support and work extended hours as part of a rota and are expected to support projects and changes out of core hours including weekends.
