Job Purpose: The Facilities officer is a hands on role responsible for assisting the Facilities Manager and the Facilities Supervisor provide the sitel an outstanding facilities service, ensuring the buildings are constantly compliant with legislation and providing a safe and secure place for pupils and staff to study and work.

Duties and responsibilities:
To assist the Facilities Manager and Facilities Supervisor with the efficient and effective management of the premises and, in particular the day to day reactive and planned preventative maintenance. These to include but not be restricted to mechanical, plumbing, building fabric repairs, cleaning, decorating and room setups;
To be the point of contact on site in the absence of the Facilities Manager and the Facilities Supervisor;
To maintain full and accurate records of all activities carried out;
Present yourself, and represent the Facilities Team and the School in a professional manner at all times, ensuring the issued facilities uniform and PPE is clean and worn in an appropriate manner;
Ensuring the maintenance of all site buildings, grounds and utilities and that any repairs or defects are reported and recorded;
Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and codes of practice;
Supervise contractors in the absence of the Facilities Manager Facilities Supervisor;
Ensuring the buildings and are kept secure;
Open and close the building including ensuring the site is secure and the intruder alarm systems are set correctly;
To assist with the organisation and delivery of lettings and functions within the school premises;
Keeping up to date with the latest legislation;
To participate in an out of hours call out rota during hours when the school in not occupied;
To assist with any other appropriate duties as required by the Facilities Manager.

Person Specification:
Ability to communicate clearly in English as a first language in both written and verbal form;
Have basic PC skills e.g. word, email;
Be able to move equipment and furniture;
Demonstrate a understanding of health and safety;
Demonstrate an understanding of water hygiene in a commercial building;
Demonstrate an understanding of Customer service in an facilities environment;
Be able to demonstrate and provide evidence of working in a similar environment delivering maintenance across a wide skill set i.e. carpentry, joinery, plumbing and an understanding of mechanical and electrical services, and able to demonstrate competency through formal training in a building related trade
Flexibility including willingness to work additional hours as and when required during evenings and at weekends;
Be willing to participate in additional training and staff development
